Essential Oils vs. Perfume

DIYing your perfume...

It doesn't have to be complicated. When I remember how much I used to spend on perfume, it boggles my mind. Now,  I feel completely justified in buying a $35 bottle of essential oil that I can make 10 perfume rollers from!

Why use essential oils to create your perfume?

1. They serve a purpose other than just making you smell pretty. The therapeutic properties are a bonus! With this perfume recipe of Joy and Vanilla, it smells lovely and light BUT when those oils hit my skin, they also help balance my mood. Which brings me to the next perk....

2. You can customize your own blends! While I may wear this recipe before a night out or tackling a day that needs some positivity, I may grab a perfume roller of Valor, Believe, and Orange on a day where I need comfort, courage, and help in the confidence department.

3. It is affordable! Quality perfume is expensive. So if I can buy three bottles of oils for under $100 and recreate my perfume blend over and over again from those same bottles, I am saving money in the beauty department!

4. Toxin free aromas! If you have researched the effects of fragrance, you know that label has thousands of chemicals that can be lumped under the term " fragrance". This includes endocrine disruptors. If you have a safer alternative, why not choose it?

What type of perfume aromas do you prefer?

Above perfume recipe:
7 drops Joy
5 drops Vanilla
Topped with carrier oil in a 5 mL perfume roller.

Travel Necessities!

Travel Necessities!
Anyone else feel like their home away from home is the car? 🙋‍♀️ The boys and I are always on the go and my car has turned into a disaster zone.

We have mastered the leaf blower trick to clear out remaining debris and snacks BUT it is harder to kick the stale odor of dirty feet, Chick- Fil-A, and burps & farts that these boys can't seem to get enough of.
If you spend long chunks of time in your car, this Black Friday Collection is right up your alley!
The Viya Collection comes with:
- Viya diffuser. Hook this bad boy up to a USB connection and it in your cup holder. It's sleek and subtle. It makes your car smell amazing without the use of fragrance. It runs up to 7 hours!

- Aromaease oil. If movement isn't your cup of tea, and long periods of travel get to your stomach and head. This is the oil for you. I like to place it behind my ears and under my nose. This would be perfect to drop in the diffuser as well.
- Citrus Fresh oil. This uplifting blend of citrus oils is sure to freshen up your vehicle. They can also help remove any goop the kiddos leave behind.
- Stress Away roll-on. To ease any tensions you might experience while traveling! Whether it's crazy drivers, wild kids, or simply a long day back and forth, this is an oil that will help you put your mind at ease.
- Thieves Spray. We take this everywhere we go. We use it to wipe down tables that have not been cleaned. Spritz dirty surfaces. We take it into public restrooms in case the situation is not very appealing. Now, we also use it to spritz our masks!

It is a great collection to treat yourself with or gift to someone you know! You could even purchase the collection and split it up between several recipients 🙂

Through Friday, November 24th or while supplies last , I will be throwing in a FREE 2 ounce bottle of Thieves Hand Sanitizer to complete your travel kit!

Who else could use something that makes their on-the-go experiences enjoyable?!

DIY Candy Cane Sugar Scrub

 DIY Candy Cane Sugar Scrub
It is time to start planning for that holiday budget and gift giving. I love sharing this recipe every year!

It is CANDY CANE SUGAR SCRUB time!

I have never met a single person who did not fall in love with this refreshing and sweet, sugar scrub. I have even been offered money for another. :)  The layered pattern is a perfect holiday design. You could make several of these well under budget. Your recipient will be thrilled! I've even had people come to me and ask me to make them another.

Here is your recipe :
4 ounce jar
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup Himalayan salt ( so good for the skin)
1/4 cup coconut oil
Cedarwood, Stress Away of Vanilla, Peppermint OR Spearmint essential oils. I prefer Spearmint 🙂

In one bowl,  combine sugar with 2 tablespoons of coconut oil and  10 drops of Stress Away or Vanilla.
In another bowl, combine salt with 2 tablespoons of coconut oil and 5 drops each of Spearmint or Peppermint & Cedarwood.
When the mixtures are a moldable consistency, begin to layer the sugar with the salt inside of the jar to create a white and pink pattern. Seal the jar with your lid and add a decorative bow to gift.

This recipe contains Himalayan salt as well as Cedarwood! Not only with this mixture smell delightful but it will provide support to scaly, dry, or irritated skin.

*If you would like to make an 8 oz. scrub, simply double the recipe!

Inspiration before Motivation

I do not know about you, but the changes and events of the past year have left me feeling slightly lost and what I assumed was lack of motivation. I am still trying to shake the effects of being put through the spin cycle of 2020. All the shifts in focus, changes in routine, and navigating different roles we were presented with, left some of us saying “Okay. Now what? What was I doing before all of this chaos?”

The lack of direction has left me feeling like I am in a “slump”. Feeling overwhelmed by possibilities and not knowing where to start, often feels like I have lost motivation to move forward with previous goals. I recently listened to a podcast called the Craig Groeschel Leadership Podcast. The episode that stuck out to me was the fifth part to a leadership series he was covering. It was called “Think Inspiration Not Motivation”.  My wheels started turning as I shook my head through the entire podcast. I highly recommend the listen!

I quickly learned, if I expected to be motivated, or better yet, motivate others, I needed to lean into inspiration. Inspiration comes from within while motivation has an external force driving it. How can I motivate others if I am struggling to be inspired? Here are a few ways that I have started to find inspiration and move forward with my goals:

  1. Read/listen to book or podcast that relates to a subject you are interested in. It is nice to be reminded of what you love and are passionate about.
  2. Do something you love! I LOVE working in my yard. Since the weather has been nice, I have been getting out more. Clearing my head, doing something I love, has created space in my mind for new ideas and movement forward.
  3. Communicate with others! It is so refreshing to be having more in person conversations. When I can talk with friends that I share common interests with, I am left feeling happy and lighthearted. Even if it is just a phone call, make time for communication!!!

Three ways to inspire others:

  1. Compliment and encourage others. Modeling positivity will encourage them to do the same. When something makes someone feel good, they will want to do the same!
  2. Let them see you working hard. Be proud of what you do! When I see someone thriving, I start to look harder at that person’s actions and feel inspired to do the same.
  3. Speak and act on your passion! Communicate your “why” to others. How did you get to this place where the drive for your passion became so strong? Share it!

After listening to the above podcast, I knew I could not motivate or inspire without fulfilling those same needs for myself. Lean into your passion, your community, and healthy outlets!

There are five essential oils that I reach for on days that I need an extra boost to keep my mindset balanced. Taking 10 seconds of my day to apply and inhale makes a BIG difference when consistently worked into a routine. My go-tos are:

  1. “Magnify Your Purpose” when trying to center my mind.
  2. “Into The Future” to promote positive, uplifting vibes through discouraging moments.
  3. “Valor” to give me courage to step out of my comfort zone.
  4. “Harmony” to provide a balanced state going into my day.
  5. “Release” to assist in releasing any limiting beliefs that I put upon myself and my goals.

What are you favorites to reach for? What are some actions of others that leave you feeling inspired?
